RE: Effectively communicating with PowerPoint

As a result of recent experiences and discussions, I have come to believe that there is a significant market for an educational product covering the effective use of PowerPoint to convey information. The vast majority of PowerPoint presentations that I have seen fail to effectively impart a clear, meaningful or memorable message. Most of these presentations merely provide a cluttered, dump of information that the presenter usually reads verbatim to a quickly bored audience. With the application of some basic design and layout principles these same presentations can be transformed from cluttered and boring to appealing and memorable.

There are hundreds of thousands of current PowerPoint users including educators and businesspeople who could benefit from learning these basic concepts. They are computer literate people of all ages who are already using PowerPoint to create presentations.

This product contains enough information to present that a job aid would most likely be inadequate while a general lack of time available to be away from their main job function would hinder the appeal of live, instructor-led classes. Some form of online delivery medium would allow these learners to digest this subject matter in small chunks, as they are able carve the time from their busy schedules. This would also allow them to jump directly to the particular component of the learning they need the most at that time.

The appeal of this QED learning product includes a timely, effective, user-friendly format that can provide improved communications for anyone who relies on PowerPoint to clearly and convincingly convey their message.
